Loan terms below are as at 24 September 2026. Confirm current conditions with the organiser before booking.

Subscription

$20 for five years.

A service subscription is required in addition to loan fees and the refundable bond. Subscription proceeds support MZC.

Collection & return

Melbourne CBD, near Victoria Market.

Confirm the pickup details with the organiser. Return the full kit to its original pickup location.

Urgent puncture

A temporary spare when you need it.

$80 for up to one week

Another week costs a further $80; extensions must be arranged with the organiser.

$400 refundable bond.

Arrange your own pickup, including rideshare collection and delivery to your location if required.

Planned road trip

Plan ahead for the road.

$60 per week

Capped at $250 for up to six weeks.

At least five business days’ notice and a $400 refundable bond are required.

Included in each kit

The wheel and the tools.

  • 20-inch wheel
  • Scissor jack and wrench
  • Extendable ratchet wrench / breaker bar with 19 mm socket
  • Wheel cover / bag
  • Pick tool
  • Tool bag

Before you borrow

  • Confirm that the supplied wheel and equipment are suitable for your particular vehicle.
  • Each kit, including all tools, must be photographed.
  • Damage and missing-item charges apply. A PDF loan agreement will be supplied by the organiser before you proceed.
  • For a punctured tyre, arrange repair before returning the kit and provide the repair receipt.
Damage and missing-item charges

Structural wheel damage: $700 replacement charge. Tyre damage: $300.

Missing items: scissor jack $70; wrench / breaker bar $70; 19 mm socket $15; pick tool $10; tool bag $15; wheel cover / bag $10.

For each separate spot of new gutter rash, the charge is $150 for the first 5 cm, plus $20 for each additional centimetre. A different spot starts a new $150 charge.

  • One 5 cm spot: $150.
  • One 6 cm spot: $170.
  • One 7 cm spot: $190.
  • Two separate 5 cm spots: $300.

Nelson currently manages the service. Ask for Nelson in the club’s community groups to discuss availability and the loan agreement. Sending an enquiry does not reserve a kit.

Find Nelson through our community groups

The service is currently independently funded and mainly run by Nelson, with the club intended to take over its operation. The stated plan is to donate the wheels to MZC once costs are recouped. Loans are subject to organiser approval and the supplied loan agreement.
